A life-size hobby!
Those of us who keep the museum tramways running in Malmköping, Malmö and Djurgårdslinjen in Stockholm, do so in our spare time. It's our alternative to playing company football, collecting stamps or singing in a choir. You and your family are also welcome to join us in Svenska Spårvägssällskapet (the Swedish Tramway Society). You'll meet people of all ages and backgrounds. An interest in railways is the common denominator.

The museumtramwaylines
In Malmköping, we've spent since 1969 developing the Urban Transport Museum of Sweden. On Djurgårdslinjen, we've carried considerably more than two million passengers since service began in 1991. In Malmö we celebrated the ninetieth anniversary of electrification of the tramways in 1996. With other local chapters in the west, south and north, there's a place and an activity for you if you want to make a contribution. You can become a conductor, or work with sales and information to the public, if you like to be in contact with people. You can train as a driver, and get to drive our antique tramcars yourself.

Putter about with the cars
If you'd rather putter about with the cars, we have some tricky electrical problems to be solved; mechanical functions to recreate; woodworking and painting to be done. You don't need to be a professional; if you join us, we'll teach you what you need to know.

The membership gives you free rides on the museum tramways in Malmköping, Malmö and on Djurgårdslinje. You receive an information-packed magazine with news and historical articles about tramways both in Sweden and abroad. You receive invitations to lectures, film nights, excursions and more. A group of members recently undertook a round-the-world journey!

So even if you don't want to drive the cars yourself, you and your family will get plenty of enjoyment out of your membership!
