The Swedish national tramway museum
Malmköping is situated in the heart of Sörmland. It is a small town with history going back to the 18th century. In the town there is also a museum tramway with a large number of vintage trams running between Malmköping and Hosjö.
Here you can
- look at old trams and buses
- take a trame ride in the beautiful countryside of Sörmland
- buy a souvenir in the Tramway Shop
- enjoy a cup of coffee and a home-made cookie in the café
- see how we are recreating the atmosphere of a small town tramway from the 1930s
The tram ride to Hosjö and back takes you through a beautiful stretch of countryside, past sparkling lakes andthrough woods. You will travel as in bygone days, a trip taking about 25 minutes.
The museum owns more than 40 cars from the 12 tram towns that once existed in Sweden. So far a third of the trams have been restored to working order for operation on the museum tramway in Malmköping. The oldest is from 1903 and the youngst from the 1950s. Some 25 buses also belong to our collections.
